Internet & E-Commerce

 Unit-I

Introduction : Internet Services, Internet Society, Internet Protocol and standardization review of network technology Domain Name system : Flat and hierarchical names , TCP/IP Internet domain names , domain name resolution, domain server message and compressed name format, inverse mappings

Unit-II

Remote login: TELNET protocol, Telnet options, Rlogin File transfer and Access: File transfer protocol (FTP), features, process model, TFTP Electronic mail: Mailbox names and aliases, TCP/IP standards for electronic mail services, electronic mail addresses, pseudo domain addresses, SMTP, MIME  multipart messages

Unit-III

Internet Management: Level of management protocol, Architectural model, protocol architecture. Internet Security: Protecting resources, mechanisms for Internet security, Firewalls and Internet access, packet-level filters, security and packet-filter specification, accessing services through a firewall, firewall architecture, monitoring and logging.

Unit-IV

Introduction to Electronic commerce: Benefits, impacts of e-commerce on business models EDI, electronic commerce, traditional  EDI systems, financial EDI, EDI systems and Internet, security issues, internet trading, impact of EDI Risk management: Internet associated risks, Intranet related risks, risk associated with confidentiality, Risk management paradigm, disaster recovery plans.

Unit-V

Cryptography and Authentication: Message security issues, encryption techniques, symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, key management electronic payment mechanisms: SET protocol, payment gateway, certificate issuance, dual signature, smart cards, electronic cash intelligent agents in E-commerce, online information chain, push and pull technology.
