COMPUTER ARCHITECTURE

Unit-I

Design Methodology: Introduction to system modeling and design levels ,Gate level: Combination &sequential circuits. Register level: Register level components & design methods, Processor level: Procession level components & design methods.

Unit-II

 Processor  Design: Processor origination, information representation, number formats , instruction formats addressing modes , data transfer and manipulation , Fixed point arithmetic, ALU design :Basic ALU organization, bit sliced ALU.

Unit-III

Micro programmed control :Control memory ,address sequencing ,micro program,  design of control unit , micro-program sequencer ,micro instruction formats.

Unit-IV

Memory organization :Memory hierarchy main memory , auxiliary memory, micro computer memory, virtual memory,  Associative memory, cache memory, interleaved memory.

Unit-V

 Parallel processing: Basic concept of parallel processing , types of parallel processor , performance evaluation,  pipelining, arithmetic  pipelining,  introduction pipeline vector processor, Array processor, fault-tolerance computing
